What cookies are and how they are used

Cookies are small text files sent by a server to a web client when the client accesses a page on a website. They are used, in general, to remember preferences, data and information for reuse during the same visit to the site (session cookies) or later (persistent cookies).
Cookies make it easier to navigate the site, allow the storage of visited pages and other specific information, such as most frequently consulted pages, connection errors, etc.
Cookies are stored, based on user preferences, by the individual browser on the specific device being used (computer, tablet, smartphone).

Often browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari etc.) are set to automatically accept cookies. Some of the purposes of installing Cookies may, in addition, require the User’s consent. Users can, however, change the default configuration by choosing to disable or delete cookies. However, this may preclude the optimal use of some areas of the site.
In the course of browsing, moreover, Users may also receive on their terminal equipment cookies from different sites (so-called “third-party” cookies), set directly by the operators of said websites and used for the purposes and in the manner defined by them.

Types of cookies

Cookies, based on their characteristics and use, are distinguished into:

Technical cookies

They are necessary for navigation on a website and for the use of its functionalities (e.g. access to restricted areas and correct display), which is why disabling them does not allow such activities.

Technical cookies are not used for further purposes and are divided into:

  • navigation or session cookies: they ensure normal navigation and use of the website;
  • functionality cookies: allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language).

Performance cookies

Collect information anonymously about how users use the website, for example which pages they visit most often and any error messages they may receive during their visit. These cookies do not collect identifying information about visitors.

Profiling cookies

They are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user when browsing the web.

This site does not use profiling cookies.

Third-party cookies

By visiting this website, the user may also receive on his/her device cookies from sites operated by other organizations (“third-party” cookies): this happens because on the site there may be elements such as, for example, images, maps, specific links to web pages of sites or web services.
